Christmas has come and gone. I've moved back home just a few days before the holiday, since I finished up with school. And now here I am, joblessless and under the hospitality of my parents once again. It was deemed appropriate that I have a two week vacation, so I'm going to have to find work again very soon. Thankfully, they really liked me back at my old job, so I'm hoping they'll be more willing to take me back than hire some random undependable kid.

As for the holiday, I guess it went well. Something about it just didn't seem like a holiday, though I must admit that almost every holiday is like that now. I think it is a matter of what I define as a holiday which is limiting my overall enjoyment of the concept. You see, for many years now what has made the holidays holidays for me was the special holiday programming. You know what I mean, surely. The Christmas specials such as Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Garfield Christmas, and so on. With exception to this interesting video and a few other less nostalgic shows, I simply haven't seen any of the classics. If you are a person around my age (23), it is very difficult if not impossible to consider things a true holiday without such classic cartoons. So as you can see, it was an unfulfilling holiday for me. I'm thankful that I did get the family, the great dinners, and everything. But all of those pale in comparison to a severe lack of holiday special reruns. Here's to next year, where hopefully I can get my chance again.

Other things

In other news... is this really true? Are they going to execute Saddam? Ever since I lost access to my car radio due to a lack of activation code, I haven't really kept up on much news at all. To be precise, I've been mostly living a politically ignorant life for the past 1.8 years. So I'm very surprised to hear that they may be doing something fatal to that guy. It seems like it was only yesterday that they caught him in some hole out there. I really have no strong opinion of him, myself. I don't approve of some of the things he has done. Who would approve of murdering innocent and underserving people? But still, while Saddam may have done some terrible things that make him deserve of some punishment, I think it is important to be careful that we don't go around executing someone just because we don't agree. Different cultures have different values. I'm not trying to say that Saddam should or should not be executed, I am just giving some friendly advice.

I know at least a few people who will become arrogant and egotistic about Saddam's death. I can already envision it now... "UNITED STATES FACILITATES THE TRUE JUSTICE IN IRAQ!" If this is the attitude we will take, who knows what other changes we'll force on other nations "in their best interest."
