Okay guys, I'm not going to let that Javascript
piece of junk steal my post this time. I'm taking extreme
countermeasures to make sure it doesn't happen again. I am
STRONG!
Now that I have made such a bold statement it is
time to continue on with the unfathomably great Garfield goodness
that has redeemed my soul into Heaven. Remember, if you don't like
Jesus, you can still achieve eternal salvation by enjoying Garfield
comics! Maybe I should start a religion based on it, but that's
beside the point for now.
You won't believe how god damn1 funny
this strip is. I know you can see it there right now, and you are
probably slapping your knee like you're some sort of knee-slappin'
old timer from the times when knees were often struck. I don't think
you really understand the true beauty of this strip. You probably
think that Garfield is a fat ass, something which is not beautiful,
but I insist there is beauty to be observed. Let me explain.
Constant usage of the same scene: not lazy
Garfield is watching the television again. You'll
noticed that this is the third strip in a row involving that same
couch, that same television, that same fat ass cat, etc. You
cretinous insensitive morons probably think that Jim Davis is a lazy
man, having three whole strips in the same place with no notable
shift in viewpoint and stuff. I'm really pissed off at you for
thinking such garbacious garbage,2
but I'm a nice guy so I forgive you. Jim Davis is NOT LAZY! I feel
like I have to say that a lot these days, and I mean it every time.
Jim Davis is a total genius and none of you slack jawed jealous
jokers will ever stand up to his almighty power. In my new religion,
Jim Davis will be the one true God. That's how incredibly good he is.
The television show and Garfield's miserable life
Garfield is now watching some kind of
action-adventure show, I think. He appears very disenchanted by this
program, which is funny. It is hilarious because Garfield is trying
to watch the television for some good old fashioned escapism, but
rather than being entertained, he is instead bored by the television
show! That poor cat, you can't help but chuckle at how he tries to
escape the deadly boredom of daily life, only to be further bored by
the media!
In this show, someone is saying that an unspecified
action is not possible at all. In the next panel, we are suddenly
treated to a great AYIEEEEEEEEEEE that someone slapped
together with Textart, a cool word processing feature. The
AYIEEEEEEEEEEE is accompanied by a SPLAT! sound effect. You
see what is happening here? Someone is falling, and they are being
ruthlessly murdered at the bottom of the descent! Jim Davis is a very
considerate guy in that he covers his bases with highly morbid humor
You depressing gothic morose emo people are probably living it up in
the humor department right now! Anyway, we get the ultra cool ending
of this three panel television show with the saying of “and they
were right.” I don't need to tell you how wonderful this is.
A postmodern stroke of excellence
You know what I was right about? How
absolutely BEAUTIFUL this strip is! There is something like a trick
being played in this strip that might be out of the way, but as a
connoisseur of the fine arts it is my duty to point out anything I
come across. Let's examine the last panel for the goods.
Look at that! Just look at that! Jim Davis is
pulling a fast one on you in the name of high art! Garfield is saying
something about saving time, but look at how they drew him! They
pretty much forgot to draw in his eyes! They did this purely for
humorous effect. Time should be saved, and an awesome way to save it
is to neglect drawing pupils. Who needs those god damn1
things anyway?
So you see, Garfield comics are funny! They always
add value to the humor by pulling off such clever tricks, like the
eye thing. Now do you really think that Jim Davis is a lazy guy who
lacks skills? I don't think so! Good night!
1 Just so you know, I can say “God damn”
in Heaven with no existential consequences.
2 “Garbacious” is a word, don't
question it.
