This place I live in (Goleta, California) isn't exactly the sort of place that generates world-shocking news, even though there is a University here, but you may have heard about someone going crazy and shooting people up at a post office earlier this week. It happened a the post office not far from me. It really isn't a huge event to those not involved, though, as life has pretty much continued as usual since Monday when it happened. Nonetheless, it is something to talk about, briefly at least.
What is it with post offices and insanity? There are real life examples like this recent event, and in the world of imagination we have characters such as Seinfeld's Newman who are evil and conniving men. Is there just something about package sorting and delivery that causes one to eventually become psychotic? Does the constant delivering of boxes and envelopes trigger some sort of dormant evil power hidden in any person? Perhaps constantly giving people their mail causes extreme levels of envy. After all, you are giving people so many nice things, while you are getting so little in return. That's something to consider.
